Chanting: Any Place

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
5 April 2013, Sri Puri Dham

Did you see the Deity in the Gambhira? It is Radha-Kanta Math—when you just enter it, there is a Deity that was worshipped by Kashi Mishra's pujari named Gopal. That same Deity is still there.

One day Mahaprabhu went to the bathroom with His tongue stuck out between His teeth. When Gopal saw this, he asked,

"Prabhu, is there any problem? Why are You going to the bathroom with Your tongue like this?"

"Prabhu, I am going to the bathroom, it is a dirty place, but My tongue is very naughty—even at this time it wants to chant the Holy Name! That is why I am trying to check My tongue."

"Prabhu, what is this? You can chant the Holy Name everywhere, even in the bathroom!"

"Yes! You are correct! From today, your name is not Gopal, your name will be Gopal Guru!"

Sri Gurudev's Protection
An extensive story that illustrates the extent to which a Guru goes to protect his surrendered disciple: 'If a servant somehow falls down and goes to some other place, glorious is the master who grabs him and brings him back by his hair.'

Durlabha manava-janma
'I toil like an ass. For whom am I doing this? Still my illusion has not been dispelled.'

When we go along the current it is not necessary to do much hard labour;
but when the current is going against us, then we have to labour hard.
