For Your Own Good His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
You have heard this story about Nityananda Prabhu. What did He do? Sivananda Sen tried so hard to bring all the pilgrims, but he was a little late. Nityananda Prabhu had got very hungry and cursed Sivananda Sen, "May his two sons die!" Hearing this curse, Sivananda Sen's wife began to weep, but when Sivananda Sen got to know about it later, he said, "This is not a curse, this is a blessing! If your children die by the curse of Prabhu, they will go to the Lord! This is a blessing!" When Sivananda Sen came to Nityananda Prabhu, he said, "It is all my fault, it is all my fault," falling in full obeisance before Nityananda Prabhu, and Nityananda Prabhu kicked him. Think about it—you come with so much effort and end up getting kicked, how will you like that? Sivananda Sen, however, got up and began to dance, "This is a blessing! This is a blessing!" Sivananda Sen's nephew Srikanta saw what happened and thought, "Everybody respects my uncle, and this person is giving so much disrespect to him!" He went to Mahaprabhu to complain, but Mahaprabhu already knew everything and when Srikanta came to Him, he could not say a word. Mahaprabhu asked him, "Why did you come? Has anything happened" Srikanta could not say anything, so he replied, "No, I have just come to give my obeisance to You." How are you to understand Nityananda Prabhu? When Gurudev punishes or chastises someone, he does it for their own good.
