We are tiny souls – humans are the same as mosquitos – but if, by the mercy of the guru, Vaishnavs and the Lord, the Lord gives you the right to do some service, that is the most important thing. All these great buildings, cars, etc. are nothing – I do not think about all this.

When I stayed in Nabadwip, I used to cultivate wheat and send straw to the temple. They told me, 'Maharaj, if you sell the field, you will get a lot of money. Why do you not do it?' I replied, 'Because your cows are here. If that field gives them food, then what is the problem?' There was also a car that was not used. I told them to give me the keys. They asked me, 'Why do you need the keys? You cannot drive.' I told them, 'Give me the keys, it is my matter.' I took the keys and used that car in service. If something can be used in the service to the temple, why not use it? The Lord provides money also. When I stayed there, the Lord gave money, and He is giving money now, too. That is why I do not worry about these things, I do not even think about these things.

I had never thought that we would have a temple in Mayapur, but after I left our Nabadwip temple, there is now (by the wish of the Lord) a necessity to make a temple there, and the Lord has arranged for a place for us. When I stayed at Park Street (Kolkata), they filed many cases against me. I stayed in a rented flat and the rent was 34,000 rupees a month. I felt bad, thinking, 'I am wasting the Lord's money, it is not right.' And I am a sannyasi, so I cannot stay in some householder's house... Two servitors, one from Malaysia and one from Venezuela, stayed together with me (the Malaysian boy is now living a family life). So, I spoke to the owner of the flat, a doctor. I asked him, 'Sir, it is hard for me to pay so much rent. If you can, will you sell the flat to me?' I bought it for four million rupees. The year was 2012. After several years, property prices had increased a lot, so this year, after I returned from Puri, I sold that flat for twenty and a half million rupees. I did not lose anything. I used that money to start the construction works in Mayapur. It is a very big land. When Srila Sridhar Maharaj made a temple, it was first a very small area, about three bhigas (0.9 acres, or 4000 sq.m.), and later it was expanded. The land there did not cost so much, but that Mayapur land is about three times more expensive. Now there is some problem with the landowners, but the Lord will arrange everything.

What I am saying is that it is not necessary to ever worry about these things. You must think about the Lord only. You should leave everything to the Lord, and rely on Him – whatever the Lord wishes, He will arrange everything. Srila Sridhar Maharaj said, 'The Lord does everything, and we are only instruments.' Like puppets, we dance as He makes us dance.

একলা ঈশ্বর কৃষ্ণ, আর সব ভৃত্য ।
যারে যৈছে নাচায়, সে তৈছে করে নৃত্য ॥

ekala isvara krsna, ara saba bhrtya
yare yaiche nachaya, se taichhe kare nrtya

'Lord Krishna is the only supreme controller, and all others are His servants. They dance as He makes them do so.'

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 1.5.142)

Everything happens by the Lord's will. Brahma said, 'He is the cause of all causes.' By His will, there is a sun and, by His will, that sun gives light. Nothing can happen without His will. But if you do everything bypassing Him, then you will suffer.

কৃষ্ণ ভুলি' সেই জীব অনাদি-বহির্ম্মুখ ।
অতএব মায়া তারে দেয় সংসারাদি-দুঃখ ॥

krsna bhuli' sei jiva anadi-bahirmukha
ataeva maya tare deya samsaradi-duhkha

'Forgetting Krishna, the soul turned towards the external illusory world in primaeval times. As the result, illusion (Maya) gives such a soul various material miseries.'

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 2.20.117)

As the result of forgetting the Lord, we are suffering this agony of three-fold miseries now. That is why I am praying to you all: please, practise Krishna consciousness.
