"They Come Running to Do Parikrama" His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Jay Om Vishnupad Jagad-Guru Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami
Maharaj ki jay Devotee: Jay Om Vishnupad Paramahamsa Jagad-Guru Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj ki jay. Gaura premanande Hari bol. Tomorrow is the adhivas (eve) of our Sri Nabadwip Dham parikrama, and the day after tomorrow we will start the parikrama. Many devotees have come from abroad—from America, Mexico, Venezuela, Singapore, Mauritius, South Africa, Russia, some devotees came from Australia, Japan, and some are coming soon from China also. In some places you cannot openly wear tilak, cannot wear neck beads openly, cannot chant kirtan openly, loudly, but people, being attracted by Mahaprabhu, are coming even from such places to hear about Him—they are coming to do the Nabadwip Dham parikrama with you all. Just think about it—how much trouble they are taking. Even when a sannyasi goes to their country, they cannot wear the sannyasi clothes—if they do, they will be arrested at once. So, when sannyasis go there, they have to wear some shirt on top of their sannyasi clothes. Our Yudhamanyu Prabhu was there before, and now Hasyapriya Prabhu goes there, and this time Srila Janardan Maharaj is coming from China with the devotees. They live in a communist country where you cannot chant kirtan loudly, you cannot build a temple, but they gather in a small flat and secretly speak Hari-katha, chant kirtan, they discourse about the Lord. People from even such countries run today to your country, to this India, West Bengal, and do the parikrama of Sri Nabadwip Dham, Sri Mayapur Dham. Taking so much trouble, they come from thousands of kilometres away, and they come running to do the parikrama of Sri Nabadwip Dham. You too are not getting a proper place... You can see that many sleep even during the arati—if any of you have come to sleep, I will take you tomorrow to a rented room outside. We have rented many guesthouses and rooms outside, you can go and sleep there, do not worry. Those who have come to sleep, they can sleep—"ara kota kal ghumaibe maya-pisachira kole, how much longer are you going to sleep on the lap of this witch Maya?" We have got this human body having crossed so many births and having traversed the entire universe—compared to that these one hundred years of life that we have got is nothing. During these hundred years of human birth you have come for Sri Nabadwip Dham parikrama but, feeling tired after one day's journey, you only lie down and sleep. I travel from morning until late at night every single day of the year, not even one day goes without me going somewhere. Today too, I have been out most of the day, arranging everything for the parikrama. The place here is small, and we are now running short of rooms. Some cannot sleep on the ground, that is why I have rented some rooms outside in the vicinity of the temple. I do not mind it, if you want to go there, get ready and we will take you there by our bus or by our car. You can stay there and come here for prasadam. However, those of you who want to stay with us and rough it here with us, you can stay—those of you who have come to hear the class, to chant kirtan, to do the parikrama and hear the glories of the parikrama, to wake up for the morning arati, etc. There is also a pandal arranged outside the temple, you may go there if you want. Gurudev always said that our parikrama is such that people will always be coming up to the last day—on the last day more and more people will come. Many work and are not able to participate in the whole parikrama, they are coming on the day of Gaura Purnima itself, and it is necessary to make some arrangement for them also, it is necessary to save a room for them. Anyhow, those who take austerity and travel here are all fortunate souls. Some even come and do this parikrama bare feet... We have come to the holy abode of Mahaprabhu, and we should pray to Mahaprabhu that devotees may not get austerity. Please help each other, participate in service. Service is our main mantra. Why do we chant the Holy Name? To get service. And how will we get the right to serve Krishna? Krishna is the property of Srimati Radharani, and Srila Gurudev is non-different from Srimati Radharani, so if we surrender to Gurudev properly, Gurudev can direct us to serve Krishna or Krishna's devotees (Krsna and karsna). 'Karsna' means a Krishna-bhakta, this is mentioned in the new book (Guidance, Volume 3). Many may not understand it, that is why I am telling that 'karshna' means a devotee, this is Srila Prabhupad's expression. Today also another book has come (Sri Puri Dham Mahatmya-Mukta-Mala)—when I went for preaching recently I was proof-reading it. During the preaching, there were programmes during the whole day, in the morning, afternoon and evening. Sripad Sadhu Maharaj sitting here went with me also. We all came back from the programmes at midnight, at 11-11:30 p.m.—everybody went to sleep and I was sitting up till late correcting the book because they made the book very nice, they wrote it very nicely, but you know that when foreign devotees speak Bengali, they speak perfect Bengali but Bengali people sometimes cannot understand perfect Bengali. There is sadhu bhasa (literary, high dialect) and chalita bhasa (colloquial dialect). Sadhu bhasa is the language of classic literature, but we do not speak that kind of language every day, we speak chalita bhasa, its simplified form. That is what I was correcting.
