(7) Imperilling Imprudence His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
You have got a human body, but next time you can become demoted and get another body—you can again get a cow's body, a dog's body or a sheep's body. But you are thinking, "I still have time. I can eat and live as I want, at ease, and when I die, then we will see what happens." Yes, true, you will see then. You will realise it when you leave this body and Yamaduts come to drag you away. They take those who do not worship the Lord and pull you. When they beat you on your head, legs and behind, then you will understand it. What happens to the soul then? It gets another body. As the result of great fortune, we have got an opportunity to hear and chant Hari-kirtan, but we waste this chance. Sadhus, Guru and Vaishnavs mercifully have come to our home, to our village:
মহান্ত-স্বভাব এই তারিতে পামর ।
mahanta-svabhava ei tarite pamara "It is the innate nature of great souls to deliver vile fallen souls, but great souls never come to their homes for any personal purpose." (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 2.8.39) Why do they come to other peoples' home? Why do they go door to door? To distribute the message of Mahaprabhu so that all the lost children of the Lord, such as all of us, could find their home and return there. You must find your own home! They come to this world and roam the world, going village to village, for this search. Their mood is 'ayachita'—they do not ask for anything; they only come to your houses to tell you about the Lord. *** Prabhu and his family have arranged this programme of Hari-katha and invited you all to take prasad. You think, "Oh, since when did this government minister become a Vaishnav?" It is an offence to even think like that. By the mercy of sadhu-sanga, by the mercy of devotees' association, he got some fortune, so he took initiation and became a devotee, a Vaishnav. You cannot serve a Vaishnav without first becoming a Vaishnav. It is necessary to first become a Vaishnav, then only can you serve a Vaishnav. Nobody can serve Vaishnavs without becoming a Vaishnav. So, he has arranged this programme so that you can get some sukriti. He has not invited you only to give you some prasad. He knew, "Guru, Vaishnavs and devotees will come." You can see there are devotee from Sweden, Colombia, Venezuela, London. These devotees come from so far, spending hundreds or thousands of rupees, to do Sri Nabadwip Dham parikrama, but we are right here in West Bengal, near Sri Nabadwip Dham.
ভারত-ভূমিতে হৈল মনুষ্য-জন্ম যার ।
bharata-bhumite haila manusya janma yara "One who has taken birth as a human being in the land of India should take advantage of this birth by bringing benefit to others." (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 1.9.41) We have been born here in India, but why must we not care and waste this chance?
