"How Much Will You Sacrifice?"

Everyone must serve to the best of their capacity. Somebody knows how to print books, somebody knows how to translate books, etc.—everybody has different capacity for preaching, you should preach in your own capacity. Now is a lockdown period, everybody is bored staying in their houses so much, we cannot go out, etc. It is a very big problem, and I also feel that, that is why I try to keep myself busy—I go here, there. How long more will we tolerate this lockdown after lockdown? Here, they are starting a fifth lockdown from tomorrow, for another month, and they are telling already that there will be a lockdown in July also, and after that another lockdown in August. They are telling this now already. They are relaxing the rules little by little, but this lockdown cannot go on forever. Some time it must finish.

I told at Gaura Purnima time—all the scientists discover so many medicines, so much medicine comes out (now there is even cancer medicine, AIDS medicine, there are so many virus medicines, bacteria medicines out there), but at the same time Yamaraj creates so many diseases, so many viruses. There is one American scientist from a university who has discovered that five new viruses appear every year. Now it is covid-19, and this coronavirus has different characters—it is one type of covid-19 in China, another type in Brazil, they have found many kinds of this virus in India also. This is a pastimes (lila) of the Lord. Everything is in His hands, He controls everything. These things are not in our hands. Therefore, despite the situation, we cannot stop our preaching, we cannot stop our chanting of the Holy Name, we cannot stop our service.

The government may not allow us to go to the chariot festival of Lord Jagannath this year, but Jagannath is always in our hearts, Baladev is in our hearts, Subhadra is in our hearts. They may not allow us to go to Odisha, or Puri, this year, but we can feel, we can realise what is Lord Jagannath's character, what is the mood of Lord Jagannath, and what He wants. You can realise these things if you have a service mood, if you can serve.

If you proceed with sincerity, with love and affection, if you have a great desire to do some service, it is more essential, more practical for your life. Also, there is another thing you must understand. How much will you sacrifice? How much of your life can you sacrifice? One time, when Gurudev saw some people killing a goat in front of Mother Kali, he said, "Do you see that? This goat is sacrificing its life for the service of Mother Kali." This kind of feeling came to Gurudev when he saw it. Thousands of goats (jiva souls) give their life to Mother Kali, but we have a human body—we have a much greater opportunity to serve the Lord, we can give our life for the service of the Deities, and this has much more value.

You can make Gurudev happy with whatever service you do. Do you remember Duhkhi, a maidservant at Srivas Pandit's house who would bring water? She got mercy of Mahaprabhu just by bringing some water. This is the service she did in Srivas Pandit's house. Also, you can remember Srivas Pandit's faith, Mukunda Prabhu's faith, how they got mercy of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu through their faith. So, if you can do even one small service for Srila Gurudev, Srila Guru Maharaj, for their mission, then it will be perfect for you, it will bring a great benefit for your spiritual life—then your human body will be of some use.

You have already got this human body, and this is the proper way to utilise it. This is what life is for. This life is not for behaving or living like other souls, like animals. You all know it. You all know that we have not come to this world to live like animals—to only eat, sleep, have some sex, and enjoy as much as we can. We are not animals. We have some other job here. We have some other service. We have got this kind of advice from Srimad Bhagavatam, from Srila Gurudev and Srila Guru Maharaj. Search for Sri Krishna Reality the Beautiful. If you want to get beautiful things, if you want to have more happiness in your life, if you want to have more comfort in your life (and not only in this or next life, but life after life), if you want to get more reality, now is your chance—you have got this human body, this body is perfect for attaining success.

Then, you should understand what is necessary to do during this period. Chant the Holy Name, engage in Bhagavat-sravan, think about the holy dham, about Sri Nabadwip Dham, live in Nabadwip Dham, live a bhajan life, always live in the place where service always goes on, do mangala-arati, come to mangala-arati, worship the Lord, serve, cook, dance, chant, make garlands, take care of the Tulasi garden. There are so many services. This is how you will be perfect. Do not be lazy. You are now in this lockdown period and you will be attacked by more and more laziness, but no, you must not waste time. Krishna has given you this opportunity to serve more, to pay more attention to the service of the Lord in your house. That is the main thing.
