(5/13) Practise and Keep Faith His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Any other questions from anybody? Question: What is more important, practice (internal religion) or preaching, or both? Yes, both are necessary. Practice is also necessary. Without practice – if you do not practise – how will you preach? For example, if you do not wake up for mangal-arati, how will you tell others to wake up for mangal-arati? If you do not practise, how can you say, 'You should practise' to others? Do you understand what I am saying? Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu also said that:
নিজে আচারি' ধর্ম্ম জীবকে শিখায়
nije achari dharma jivke sikhaya Practise yourself and teach the right path to the souls. Your chanting of the Holy Name will be effective when you practise yourself and preach.
আপনে আচরে কেহ, না করে প্রচার ।
apane achare keha, na kare prachara "Some follow rules and regulations but do not preach Krishna consciousness; some preach Krishna consciousness but do not follow rules and regulation. You perform both duties in relation to the Holy Name by your personal behavior and by your preaching, therefore you are the spiritual master of the entire world, you are the most advanced person in the world." (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 3.4.102-103) If somebody is not practising and preaching, the proper result will not come to them, and if somebody is only practising but not preaching, that is also not good. You must practise and you must preach. Any other questions? Question: How can one remove doubts from their heart? There can so many doubts (sandeha, সন্দেহ) inside us. Doubt is a kind of disease, and it can be removed through practice. You must remove your doubts by practising. It is also necessary to have the strongest faith. "Sraddha-anusari bhakti-adhikari (শ্রদ্ধা-অনুসারী ভক্তি-অধিকারী): the quality of devotion depends on faith." (Cc, 2.22.64) If you lose your faith, you lose everything. It is necessary to have faith, the strongest faith.
'শ্রদ্ধা' শব্দে—বিস্বাস কহে সুদৃঢ় নিশ্চয় ।
'sraddha'-sabde—visvasa kahe sudrdha nischaya "Sraddha is a firm, determined faith that by serving Krishna all actions are accomplished." (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 2.22.62) If Gurudev says, 'If I practise properly, I can go to Goloka Vrindavan,' then it is 100% or 200% true. It must be 200% so. Gurudev said it, then we must believe that. This is the main thing for us. Gurudev said it – OK, no questions. If Gurudev says something, he is the acharya, he is the guru, so it is right and there must be no doubt. Even if Gurudev says that a banana tree is something else, even if he says that black is white. There must be no question.
