Mahaprabhu's Mercy His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
There were many instances when Mahaprabhu rescued jiva souls. One time, He rescued Chad Kazi. Mahaprabhu divided devotees into groups of dancers and made Vakreshwar Pandit the leader of one of those group (He also took him to the Ratha Yatra festival). One day, when Vakreshwar Pandit came out to chant kirtan in Mayapur, Nabadwip, Chad Kazi broke one of the mridangas, prohibiting anyone to chant Hindu kirtans. The devotees became scared and came back to their homes. Later, they asked Mahaprabhu, "What should we do, Prabhu? Shall we stop kirtan then?" Mahaprabhu said, "Never! There were four groups today, so tomorrow you must go out in a hundred groups! You will all go first, and I will come behind you." The next day, everyone came out with kirtan again, and Mahaprabhu told them to first go to the house of Chan Kazi... In the meantime, something peculiar happened that night when Mahaprabhu gave the order. Lord Nrisinghadev came to Chad Kazi in his dream and jumped on his chest, pressing his chest so much that Chad Kazi could not breathe! When Chad Kazi opened his eyes, he saw the furious form of Nrisinghadev. Lord Nrisinghadev said, "You are done with! Today I will crush your chest in the same way that you broke My mridanga!" Chad Kazi became so scared that he closed his eyes, and the Lord then said, "Oh, so you are scared? Since you are scared, I will spare you today, but because you broke the mridanga, I will destroy your entire lineage." Saying this, Lord Nrisinghadev disappeared, and Chad Kazi sat up on his bed, speechless. So, when devotees came out with kirtan the next day, ministers asked Chad Kazi, "Are you not going to say anything? They have come out again!" Chad Kazi said, "No, I will not go there. You can send somebody to stop them." Somebody went to try to stop the kirtan, but suddenly that man's body caught fire and his beard had all got burnt! So, at night, Mahaprabhu came with the sankirtan party to Chad Kazi, who was at home, sitting behind closed doors. While devotees were chanting and dancing outside his house, Mahaprabhu came to the door and called out to Chad Kazi: "What is this, Kazi? Is this your religion? Is it written in your Quran that if a guest comes to your house, you must close the door and sit in the room?" "Prabhu, I thought You had come in anger, so I got scared and closed the door," explained Chad Kazi, opening the door cautiously. "What has happened? There has been kirtan chanted for so long, why have you told to stop it now? We are chanting now here, are you not going to stop it?" "Can I say something to You privately?" "Why privately?" asked Mahaprabhu. "Everyone here are My own men, you can speak in front of them." "All right. That day when I ordered to stop Your kirtan, Nrisinghadev grabbed my chest," said Chad Kazi, opening his shirt. "You can see this claw mark on my chest. Not only that, one of my men's face got all burnt when he went to try to stop kirtan. That is why I do not try to stop Your Harinam anymore." "Oh, you have said the Name of Lord Hari!" "What? I have?? Haram! Haram!" "See? Now you are chanting the Name of Rama! Ha Ram! You have become rescued!" In the end, Chan Kazi promised Mahaprabhu, "I will never stop kirtan again, and I promise to You that if anyone in my family does not chant kirtan, I will disown them." From that time, Chad Kazi became a devotee. You know that when we go for Sri Nabadwip Dham parikrama, we come to the samadhi of Chad Kazi that is situated in Simantadwip.
