Humility and Deep Faith

[His Divine Grace chants the kirtan 'Amara jivana'.]

amara jivana sada pape rata
nahika punyera lesa
parere udvega diyachhi ye kata
diyachhi jivere klesa [1]

My life is always engrossed in sin. There is not a trace of piety in it. I have caused others so much anxiety and trouble.

nija sukha lagi' pape nahi dari
daya-hina svartha-para
para-sukhe duhkhi sada mithya-bhasi
para-duhkha sukha-kara [2]

I am never afraid to engage in sinful activities for the sake of my own happiness. I am merciless and selfish. I am a perpetual liar. I am saddened by the happiness of others and pleased by the sadness of others.

asesa kamana hrdi majhe mora
krodhi, dambha-parayana
mada-matta sada visaye mohita
himsa-garva vibhusana [3]

There are unlimited sinful desires within the core of my heart. I am angry and arrogant, always maddened with vanity, infatuated with mundanity, and malice and pride are my ornaments.

nidralasya hata sukarye virata
akarye udyogi ami
pratistha lagiya sathya-acharana
lobha-hata sada kami [4]

I am subdued by laziness and sleep, averse to performing good deeds, and eager to perform sinful deeds. I engage in deceitful behaviour in pursuit of prestige. I am ruined by greed and constantly covetous.

e hena durjana sajjana-varjita
aparadhi nirantara
subha-karya-sunya sadanartha-manah
nanaduhkhe jara jara [5]

Such a sinner as I is shunned by devotees, and is a constant offender. I am devoid of virtuous motives, always intent upon evil, and racked by various miseries.

vardhakye ekhana upaya-vihina
ta'te dina akinchana
bhakati-vinoda prabhura charane
kare duhkha nivedana [6]

Now aged, I am devoid of any means of deliverance and thus destitute and distressed. Bhakti Vinod submits this remorseful confession at the Lord's feet.

We must always be humble. I have told you before: the higher a Vaishnav is, the more humility they have.

দৈন্য, আত্মনিবেদন, গোপ্তৃত্বে বরণ ॥
'অবশ্য রক্ষিবে কৃষ্ণ'—বিশ্বাস পালন ॥

dainya, atma-nivedana, goptrtve varana
'avasya raksibe krsna'—visvasa palana

[Limbs of surrender:] "Humility, self-submission, embracing the Lord’s guardianship, maintaining the faith that 'Krishna will certainly protect me.'"

First, it is necessary to accumulate sukriti from previous lifetimes. There is ajnata sukriti and there is jnata sukriti. Nobody can practise Krishna consciousness without sukriti.

ব্রহ্মাণ্ড ভ্রমিতে কোন ভাগ্যবান্ জীব ।
গুরু-কৃষ্ণ-প্রসাদে পায় ভক্তিলতা-বীজ ॥
মালী হঞা করে সেই বীজ আরোপণ ।
শ্রবণ-কীর্ত্তন-জলে করয়ে সেচন ॥

brahmanda bhramite kona bhagyavan jiva
guru-krsna-prasade paya bhakti-lata-bija
mali hana kare sei bija aropana
sravana-kirtana-jale karaye sechana

Having travelled throughout the universe and got the mercy of Guru, Krishna, a fortunate soul receives a seed of the devotional creeper. As a gardener, they must plant that seed and water it with practising: hearing and chanting.

Always practise. You must all take kirtan books with you. Always join this parikrama of the holy dham.

শ্রীগৌড়মণ্ডলভূমি, যেবা জানে চিন্তামণি,
তার হয় ব্রজভূমি বাস ।

sri-gauda-mandala-bhumi yeba jane chintamani
tara haya vraja-bhume vasa

"Those who always think about Sri Nabadwip Dham, reside in Sri Vrindavan."

Come and stay in Sri Gaura Mandal! Gauda Mandal is not only Mayapur or Nabadwip. "Those who always think about Sri Nabadwip Dham, reside in Sri Vrindavan." Those who understand what Nabadwip Dham is, who have deep internal faith live in the land of Vraja. Therefore, there is no other way to rescue yourself from the circumambulation of this material world except chanting the Holy Name in the saintly association.

সাধুসঙ্গে কৃষ্ণনামে—এই মাত্র চাই ।

সংসার জিনিতে আর কোন বস্তু নাই ॥

sadhu-sange krsna-nama—ei matra chai
samsara jinite ara kona vastu nai

I desire only to chant the Name of Krishna in the association of the sadhus. There is no other way to conquer samsara.

You can become rescued from this parikrama of the material world if you do the parikrama of the holy dham in good association of sadhus.
