SRI GAUDIYA GITANJALI : SRIMAN MAHAPRABHU VANDANA
kali-ghora-timire, garasala jaga-jana,
dharama karama bahu dura
asadhane chintamani, vidhi milaola ani,
gora bada dayala thakura [1]
The people of this world are swallowed by the dismal darkness of Kali.
Religion and pious deeds are now pushed far away. But Providence has brought
an unprecedented touchstone, the greatly merciful Lord Gora.
bhai re bhai! gora guna kahana na yaya
kata sata-anana, kata chatur-anana,
varaniya ora nahi paya [2]
Brother! Brother! It is impossible to describe this Gora! Even when all
hundred-headed and all four-headed Lord Brahmas try to describe Him, they
cannot get it right.
chari-veda sada-darasana, kari adhyayana,
se yadi gauranga nahi bhaje,
vrtha tara adhyayana, lochana bihina jana,
darapane andhe kiba kaje [3]
Even if you read all four Vedas and study the six religions of India but do
not worship Gauranga, all your studies are futile. What use is a mirror to a
man without eyes?
veda vidya dui, kichhui na janata,
se yadi gauranga jane sara
nayananande bhane, sei ta sakali jane,
sarva-siddhi kara-tale tara [4]
You may not know anything about the Vedas and may not have any knowledge at
all. Nayanananda says that those who know that Gauranga is all-in-all know
everything – they have all perfections on the palm of their hand.
