Tomorrow is Varaha dvadasi, the appearance day of Varahadev. Taking the form of a boar, the Lord defeated Hiranyaksa and Nrisinghadev defeated Hiranyakasipu. Hiranyaksa and Hiranyakasipu were Jay and Vijay, two brothers and gatekeepers in Vaikuntha. Narayan became annoyed with them and let them be cursed.

When the ego of servitors increases, the Lord can get annoyed. It happened to Uddhav Maharaj also—he thought, "I always stay with Krishna, I am a big devotee!" but the Lord showed him that the gopis were the greatest devotees. Gopis have no hair on their heads because they carry all the butter pots, water pots, etc. on their heads! They lost the hair on their heads! And Krishna showed to Uddhav Maharaj that they are the highest devotees. Gopis neglect their own bodies. Look at us—we always think about the body, we apply oil, use this, that. But they gave their footdust when Krishna had headache. They said, "Even if our legs burn, if we get leprosy, we do not care as long as our Lord is OK." How much love they have for Krishna!

But what are nowadays' wives like? Their husbands lose legs in a car accident, and they say, "No problem, I can get another husband." Such stories are in newspapers every day... Somebody also gets a lover and they kill the husband together. What people do for the sake of trifle happiness! This is Kali-yuga. If you read newspapers, you will see these stories there every day, not even one day passes without some news like that.

And if you hear what science does, you will be amazed. Once, a woman plotted with her lover to kill her husband. She killed her husband and then poured acid on the face of her lover and got him admitted to hospital. Then she called the parents-in-law saying that their son was going to commit suicide by pouring acid on himself and now he was in hospital. The parents came to the hospital and told the plastic surgeons to restore the face of their son. Then, the man was treated, but seeing his behaviour the parents got suspicious—one day, they gave the man some goat soup in hospital, but the man said he was vegetarian and refused to eat it while the son of the parents had always eaten meat. Then they called the police, the wife was arrested and everything was revealed.

What the world has come to!
