'Yogyata vichare kichhu nahi pai—tomara koruna-sara (যোগ্যতা বিচারে কিছু নাহি পাই তোমার করুণা সার)! If you judge my qualifications, you will find I have none. Your mercy is everything.' We do not have any qualification, and we do not understand anything about the right qualification. Unless Gurudev gives us his mercy, we cannot have any qualification. Nothing can happen without Gurudev's mercy. Therefore, we must consider our qualification (we must consider where we stand) – we must understand that without Gurudev's mercy we do not have any qualification.

[Noticing a devotee chanting on his beads] Is it possible to do two things at a time? Is it possible to chant the Holy Name and say something else at the same time or listen to the lecture at the same time? But how can we practise all sixty-four devotional practices at the same time? Srila Prabhupad said that if you practise one devotional practice, all sixty-four practices are practised then. So, there is Hari-katha and Hari-kirtan going on here, who taught you to chant on your beads at this time? Maybe you do not get time to chant the Holy Name, so you come here to chant.

Do you not like to hear Hari-katha? If you chant on your beads during the class, this is karma. You must listen attentively to what is being spoken. What is the result of doing karma? Material bondage (karma-bandhan). And the result of material bondage is suffering in hell. If Gurudev tells you to read Bhagavatam, then it will be reading Bhagavatam, and if you read it because you want to read, then it will be reading Bhagavatam. Gurudev told me to read Chaitanya-charitamrita in the evenings, and I started giving class, but before that I came and listened to whoever was reading. So, if you chant on your beads during the class, it will be only chanting, 'Potash! Potash!' and 'Pare Pesto Pare Pesto'...
