(10) Lord's Arrangement

Gurudev tells us how we must live and practise spiritual life, but if somebody lives in another way, if somebody tries to practise spiritual life bypassing their guru (ignoring their guru's instruction), all their efforts are in vain – the life and practice of such people are false like a dream. Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj also said that if we ignore Sriman Nityananda Prabhu, all our spiritual life and practices become false like a dream. Sriman Nityananda Prabhu is non-different from Sri Gurupadpadma, so if we try to practise Krishna consciousness without chaste adherence to Sri Gurupadpadma and without service to Sri Gurupadpadma, our lives will be all false like a dream.

Even in Gurudev's time, there were many who tried very hard to gain kanaka (money), kamini (women) and pratistha (fame). Many people wanted to become disciples of our Gurudev, and many took initiation from him and then preached widely, but they never brought people to Gurudev. You all know that from my brahmachari days I have been going to every village and district, going house to house, bringing people to the temple for the Gaura Purnima festival and arranged for them to take initiation from Gurudev. This is how so many devotees became disciples of our Gurudev. But I never thought that I would become a guru one day, 'Oh, after Gurudev leaves, I will be the next guru! I will be giving initiation to everybody!' Because I never thought like that, I have ended up in this situation now. But such thoughts never occurred to me, never came to my mind. I only did service all the time. I still like distributing prasad, and you can still see me during the prasad distribution – I try to show and teach others how to do it. Mahaprabhu also taught us in this way. That is how we learned how to serve prasad, how to clean the temple, how to wash the dishes, how to serve Vaishnavs, how Deities' archan must be done, how to serve the Deities properly. This is what we try to do, and you can see that the Lord arranges everything. The Lord is always there above our heads, and He always makes all arrangements.

You know, last night, I could not sleep because mosquitoes were biting a lot. I was worried how I would do the programme today if I could not sleep the whole night. I called Kamalendu Prabhu and told him to go to Sripad Niriha Maharaj's room to see if he had an All-Out (a mosquito repellent plug-in). When Kamalendu Prabhu went to put on his shoes, he suddenly saw that somebody had put an All-Out into his shoe!

Another thing was the chamara. The chamara had gone old here, and when I went to the market, I could only get a small one. I was thinking that if somebody was coming from Kolkata, they could find a big one there and bring it here. Then, a girl was coming here from Nepal, and I saw that she brought a big chamara! I did not tell anybody that I needed a chamara, but Lord Nityananda Prabhu arranges everything for His service. Everything comes in this way... There is no lack of anything. The Lord does not keep His devotees lacking anything. You can see how much money is spent on this festival here – hundreds of thousands of rupees, and that money comes. Somebody calls and just puts that money in the account.

[His Divine Grace's phone rings.] Prabhu, I am giving a class now. I will speak to you later, all right? Please try to arrange for a good microphone for the Gaura Purnima programme. I want everyone up to the crematorium to hear the programme. [The caller asks where His Divine Grace is now.] I am in Ekachakra! Today is the appearance day of Nityananda Prabhu! You live in Nabadwip, but you do not know Nityananda Prabhu. What is this?! You must think about Nityananda Prabhu! It is not necessary to meet with me. Just sort the microphone out. All right? If I am alive, we will meet later, what is the problem? You want to meet with me tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, but is there any guarantee that I will be alive then? Then how can I tell you when we can meet? When Nitai makes it possible for us to meet, then we will meet. All right? [His Divine Grace ends the call.]
