গুরুদেব!
কৃপাবিন্দু দিয়া, কর এই দাসে,
তৃণাপেক্ষা অতি দীন ।
সকল সহনে, বল দিয়া কর,
নিজমানে স্পৃহাহীন ॥১॥

gurudev!
krpa-bindu diya, kara ei dase,
trnapeksa ati dina
sakala sahane, bala diya kara,
nija-mane sprha-hina [1]

'O Gurudev! Please give a drop of your mercy and make this servant very humble, humbler than a blade of grass. Please give me the power to tolerate everything and to be free from any selfish desires.'

What is the most important quality of a Vaishnav? Srila Prabhupad said that it is patience. We must learn to tolerate everything. 'O Gurudev! Please give me that kind of power so that I can tolerate everything.'

I read in one place yesterday that Gadai, a pujari from the Daksineswar temple, said, 'Can a guru curse you? He curses you, and he is a guru?' You do not understand this! You think that the guru has cursed you, so you want to keep as far away from him as possible, but what you do not understand is that such a 'curse' is actually a blessing!

সকলে সম্মান, করিতে শকতি,
দেহ নাথ যথাযথ ।
তবে ত’ গাইব, হরিনাম সুখে,
অপরাধ হবে হত ॥২॥

sakale sammana, karite sakati,
deha natha yatha-yatha
tabe ta’ gaiba, hari-nama sukhe,
aparadha habe hata [2]

'Master! Give me the strength to give everyone appropriate honour, then I will happily chant the Holy Name and all my offences will be destroyed.'

কবে হেন কৃপা, লভিয়া এ জন,
কৃতার্থ হইবে নাথ ।
শক্তিবুদ্ধিহীন, আমি অতি দীন,
কর মোরে আত্মসাথ ॥৩॥

kabe hena krpa, labhiya e jana,
krtartha haibe natha
sakti-buddhi-hina, ami ati dina,
kara more atmasatha [3]

'When will this soul get such mercy and become successful? I have no strength, no intelligence, I am very poor. Please hijack me!'

যোগ্যতা বিচারে, কিছু নাহি পাই,
তোমার করুণা সার ।
করুণা না হৈলে, কাঁদিয়া কাঁদিয়া,
প্রাণ না রাখিব আর ॥৪॥

yogyata vichare, kichhu nahi pai,
tomara karuna sara
karuna na haile, kandiya kandiya,
prana na rakhiba ara [4]

'I find no quality or qualification within me – your mercy is everything. If I do not get your mercy, I will simply weep to death.''

পরম করুণ, পহুঁ দুই জন,
নিতাই গৌরচন্দ্র ।
সব অবতার- সার শিরোমণি,
কেবল আনন্দ কন্দ ॥১॥

parama karuna, pahu dui jana,
nitai gaura-chandra
saba avatara- sara siromani,
kevala ananda kanda [1]

'Nitai and Gaurachandra are two most merciful Lords. They are the best crest-jewels of all incarnations and the root of pure happiness.'

Falling into material bondage we are suffering so much misery and undergoing so many austerities. Despite that there is also happiness. What happiness is that? The only happiness is that Nityananda and Gauranga Mahaprabhu are there at your home, right here in West Bengal – They appeared in Nabadwip and Ekachakra. Just as in Dvapar-yuga Balaram comes to Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, in Kali-yuga He assumes the form of Nitai and comes to assist in the pastimes of Gauranga Mahaprabhu, who is a combined form of Sri Sri Radha-Krishna.

Mahaprabhu is extremely benevolent – is there anybody in this world as magnanimous as He is? What did He give to this world? He granted His own Holy Name. Going house to house, He told everybody, '

জীব জাগ জীব জাগ গোরাচাঁদ বলে ।
কত নিদ্রা যাও মায়া পিশাচীর কোলে ॥

jiva jaga jiva jaga gorachanda bale
kata nidra yao maya-pisachira kole

‘“Wake up, soul! Wake up, soul!” says Gorachad (Golden Moon). “How long are you going to sleep in the lap of this witch Maya?”’

পিশাচী পাইলে যেন মতিচ্ছন্ন হয় ।
মায়াগ্রস্ত জীবের হয় সে ভাব উদয় ॥

pisachi paile yena mati-chchhanna haya
maya-grasta jivera haya se bhava udaya

'When someone is possessed by a ghost, they become bewildered. This condition overtakes souls bound by Maya.'

(Sri Sri Prema-vivarta, 6.3)

'O soul! Wake up! Stop sleeping! You have lost your address! Come with Me! I have come to take you to your own home.' We are all children of the same house. You may think, 'How can that be? Some are from America, some are from London, some are from Russia, some are from Hooghly! We are all from different places...' Such is our fortune. We have all got scattered around, left to struggle in our material lives, but we are children of one Father: 'Krsna mata, Krsna pita, Krsna prana-dhana (কৃষ্ণ মাতা, কৃষ্ণ পিতা, কৃষ্ণ প্রাণধন): Krishna is my father, Krishna is my mother, Krishna is the very treasure of my life.' This is where we come from, and this is where we must return. Who can take us there? Who knows the Lord's address? Who knows the address of our real home? A genuine guru can take you there.

If you have a strong desire and make one step towards the Lord, the Lord will take ten steps towards you. We must have desire, we must be eager to get there.

So, this is our happiness that in Kali-yuga the Supreme Lord Himself comes in the form of Gauranga Mahaprabhu and distributes His Holy Name to everyone. There is no difference between the Name and the Bearer of the Name: 'Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.'

কি শয়নে, কি ভোজনে, কিবা জাগরণে ।
অহর্নিশ চিন্ত কৃষ্ণ, বলহ বদনে ॥

ki sayane, ki bhojane, kiba jagarane
aharnisa chinta krsna, balaha vadane

‘Whether you are sleeping, eating or waking up, incessantly think about Krishna and chant the Name of Krishna with your mouth.’

(Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata, 2.28.28)

'Aharnisa' means you must chant the Holy Name day and night, incessantly. It is not like you will do parikrama today and your job is done. No. Service is not for one day only. Service must be eternal, we must serve and chant Krishna-kirtan every single day without fail. Leaving all other talks, leaving all other desires, we must always chant the Holy Name.
