(9/11) Eternal Parikrama Life

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Bhanjipur, preaching programme
12 November 2019, evening, part 9

ara kabe nitaichand karuna karibe
samsara-vasana mora kabe tuchha ha'be

'When will Nitaichand give me His mercy? When will my material desires lose their appeal and become trifle?'

(Prarthana, Srila Narottam Das Thakur)

'When will Nityananda Prabhu bestow His mercy on me? When will my attraction and attachment to this material world go away?' We must give importance to Nityananda Prabhu's mercy. If we can get His mercy, our material desires will lose their significance.

kabe nityananda more kari' daya
chhadaibe mora visayera maya

'When will Nityananda be merciful to me and make me leave all material attachment?'

(Saranagati, Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur)

'When will Nitaichand bestow His mercy on me, when will I stop caring about material desires? When will my mind go away from all that? When will I be able to enter Krishna's family? Becoming a member of Krishna's family, I will live my life nicely and properly serving the Lord every day...'

You must keep Tulasi at home. Every home should have Tulasi. If you serve Tulasi, you will get devotion. She is Bhakti Devi, Goddess of Devotion. Every day circumambulate Tulasi – four times in the morning and four times in the evening. Before you leave home in the morning, pay obeisance to Tulasi, and when you come back home in the evening, pay obeisance to Tulasi first, then enter the house. Do Tulasi parikrama with kirtan. Take kirtan books and learn the kirtans by heart.

namo-re namo-re maiya namo narayani
yanko darase parase agha-nasa hoi
mahima veda purane vakhani

'O Narayani, I offer my obeisance unto you again and again. By seeing or touching you, all sins are destroyed. Your glories are sung in the Vedas and Puranas.'

All sins are destroyed just by seeing or touching Tulasi. Remember this. Keep Tulasi at home, serve Tulasi – offer her incense, circumambulate her. Do this every day. If you circumambulate Tulasi four times every day, morning and evening, you can get relief from circumambulating this material world. Do you understand what the parikrama of this material world means (samsara-parikrama)? It means that you were born into a human family (manusya samsar) this time, but next life you may have to be born into a dog family, a snake family, a frog family, a pig family or a fish family. Do you think you will like such a life?

Does anybody want to be born in all those species again? You have got a nice human life now, and you wear beautiful saris, shirts, and other clothes, but if you are born as a tree or a blade of grass, what will you do? What will you wear? Nobody wants this to happen to them. But there is a soul in all species, and all souls are the same in quality. We have got this human birth having crossed over all those other species, and if we live in a wrong way, we will have to return to travelling throughout all those species again. Not everybody will have to make a full circle through all the species – it depends on one's individual karma. Nobody knows how many times we have been born before. We have been born 400,000 times as humans – among those times, we may have been born in Nagaland or in some Amazon jungle where people eat other people, raw snakes and frogs. In some countries, people make cakes out of stool – they say that it tastes the same as cow's meat! We were such humans before. This time, however, we got lucky and we were born in India.

bharata-bhumite haila manusya janma yara
janma sarthaka kari’ kara para-upakara

‘One who has taken birth as a human being in the land of India should take advantage of this birth by bringing benefit to others.’

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 1.9.41)

'Bringing benefit to others' does not mean giving money or clothes to other people – it means bringing to this path the souls who are averse to Lord Krishna. This is what sadhus do, and this is what each of you can do, too. Bring devotees to this line, take them to Vrindavan, Puri and Nabadwip for parikrama. You can see that only one–two people come for Nabadwip Dham parikrama from this area because it is the time of potato harvest. This is the greed that stops them. You must set aside four days for the parikrama.

gaura amara ye-saba sthane
karala bhramana range
se-saba sthana heriba ami
pranayi-bhakata-sange

'In the company of loving devotees, I will behold all the places my Gaura roamed during His ecstatic pastimes.'

(Saranagati, Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur)

Do parikrama together with devotees.

'May Krishna Always Bless You'
'Not everybody has that kind of fortune, not everybody can do service, not everybody can join service and do proper preaching. Preaching is the main thing: many people can make a temple, but it is necessary to preach.'

Somebody can also criticise me, say bad things about me behind my back, but we must
think, 'They can say many things about me—no problem, I am actually worse than that.'
