(9/15) Descend of Scriptures His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
So, when all the sages asked Vyasadev to stop Maya's work for five minutes and Vyasadev did that, Sukadev came out of his mother's womb and dashed into the forest. When your children are born, can they run? Many people say, 'What is the proof that Lord Krishna is the Lord? What is the proof that Mahaprabhu is the Lord Himself?' There are many evidential verses that we can cite from Vishnu Purana and other scriptures. In short, the evidence is this. When your children are born, are they born wearing clothes, Tulasi neckbeads, tilaks and brahman threads? When Krishna was born, He appeared wearing clothes, a brahman thread, tilaks, neckbeads and so on, and He was holding a conch, a disk, a club and a lotus flower in His four arms – after Devaki and Vasudev offered their prayers, He assumed His two-armed form, but even then He was still clothed. When Sukadev ran to the forest, Vyasadev ran after him crying, 'Sukadev! Listen to me! Wait! Wait!' Sukadev did not recognise anything – he did not see his father, mother or anything else around him. As if blind, he simply went wherever the Lord took him. Eventually, he went all the way to the Himalayas. There were some girl bathing in the river. Sukadev walked around stark naked, and he did not see anything. Even those bathing girls did not think anything when they saw Sukadev coming – they did not feel any shame or shyness in his presence. But when they saw Vyasadev coming behind Sukadev, they quickly covered themselves with some clothes. Although Vyasadev was a very great scholar, they felt shy in front of him, but when it came to Sukadev, they felt that he did not even see anybody. In the meantime, Pariksit Maharaj was cursed by a brahman to die within seven days. Receiving this curse, Pariksit Maharaj convened an assembly, and many great sages and scholars from various sampradayas came there. They explained different scriptures (Garuda Purana, Agni Purana and so on) to Pariksit Maharaj, but Pariksit Maharaj did not feel at peace. Then, Sukadev Goswami suddenly entered that assembly. By the wish of the Lord he somehow came there. Even coming there, he did not see anybody. His father, Vyasadev, was there, his grandfather, Parasara, was there, many other great personalities were there, but he did not see them. But everybody said, 'Pariksit Maharaj, Sukadev has come to your assembly! There is no greater fortune than this! Whatever he tells you, we will all accept it. His judgement, his conception is final.' Then, Pariksit Maharaj gave a seat to Sukadev Goswami. Sukadev sat down without offering obeisances or greetings to anybody. He did not recognise anybody, he did not see anybody. He only could see Pariksit Maharaj. He asked him, 'Pariksit, what is your question?' Then, Pariksit Maharaj asked him, 'Prabhu, what is good for me?' Sukadev replied, 'You are a good searcher. There is only one question, and the answer to this question is also only one.' Then, Sukadev gave answer to Pariksit Maharaj's question, and all that he said is now known as Srimad Bhagavatam. Suta Goswami heard him speak, and he was a srutasrava: hearing something once, he could remember it. He related the entire conversation in front of sixty thousand sages in Naimisaranya, and after that assembly, Srimad Bhagavatam was recorded in a book form. I have told you about the origin of Srimad Bhagavatam briefly. The whole story is much longer. You can read it in the small book we have recently published. There are also many nice bigger books. I have written Upadesh 1, 2, 3 and 4 in plain language. If you read these four volumes, you can learn everything. There are other scriptures also, Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata. I composed my books based on verses from these scriptures. By the mercy of Gurudev, these four books have come out. Read these scriptures, you will get benefit.
