(5/10) Nitai Consciousness His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
I have also written in Guidance 3 about service to the Lord and provincialism. You should read this. Many people think, 'Oh, I am from Bangladesh, and some devotees are coming from there soon – I should arrange a nice room for them, I should give them nice prasad', or, 'I am from Bardhaman, so I should give more paneer, yoghurt and sweets to the devotees from Bardhaman.' There is such provincialism among devotees, and Srila Prabhupad told about it clearly. Some also say, 'Oh, if there was a temple near my house, it would be nice because my wife and children could go there. They cannot go to Nabadwip all the time, but if there was a temple nearby, they would go there all the time.' Thinking like this, we forget about gurudev and about service to the Lord. These are Srila Prabhupad's words. I read all these things and wrote them for you all in a book after that. If you get this book, Guidance 3, you will find all these things there. The printing cost is actually very high now, but because today is Nityananda Prabhu's festival, I am giving you a lower price. There are also first two volumes, Guidance 1 and Guidance 2. You should know these things; try to understand and read these things! In this world, who does not write books? People compose big poems and stand in a line to capture people's minds and earn fame. When somebody gets involved in politics, others must group together and form opposition, and they are not afraid to even go to prison to earn name and fame. People roam this world seeking name and fame. Somebody thinks, 'Oh, I will become a doctor', 'Oh, I will become an engineer', 'I will have a big house', 'I will have a lot of money', 'Everybody will know who I am!' This kind of fame-seeking is there even among sadhus. Srila Prabhupad said, 'What cannot be renounced even after having renounced everything? Pratistha, name and fame – it is pig's stool! This is what cannot be renounced.' This is pig's stool! 'I will be a great singer!', 'I will become a great scholar!', 'Everybody will consider me their guru and pay obeisances to me.' No! Do not dress and pretend to be a sadhu – you must become a sadhu. [To a devotee] Why are you bringing bhoga now? When five quintals of rice [five hundred kilograms] is cooked and taken out, then you can offer it. I cannot do it like you. When five quintals of rice is cooked, then the offering will be made. We must always think about these things. But we forget all this. We forget the Lord! He is the Original Person, our Original Father, but we forget Him. We forgot Nitai! Who cares to know Him? Even right here, in Ekachakra, everybody only cares about Tarapith. Everybody here is devotees of Tara Ma, everybody goes to Tarapith for outings and to enjoy. But nobody thinks about the holy abode of Nitai. Nobody thinks about Nitai! That is why this world is so full of inauspiciousness. How will the souls of this world ever get salvation if they do not take Nitai's Name? That is why, following the wish of our Param Guru Maharaj Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj, Srila Prabhupad Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur and our Gurudev Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj, this big temple has been established here. They have opened a temple here and installed Sri Sri Guru Gaura Nityananda Prabhu's Deities – they have told the whole world how important, how necessary Nityananda Prabhu is for our lives, for our spiritual and devotional lives. If one does not accept Nityananda Prabhu, then everything is like a dream – everything is useless, imaginary. We must always think about Nityananda Prabhu! If we do not think about Nityananda Prabhu, we will not be able to understand anything. If we do not think about Nityananda Prabhu, if we do not remember Nityananda Prabhu, if we do not hear about Nityananda Prabhu, if we cannot get to know who Nityananda Prabhu is, then all our 'spiritual' practice is just a dream, a figment of imagination – it is all false. Without Nityananda Prabhu, we cannot understand anything. If you want to get Nityananda Prabhu's mercy, you must serve Nityananda Prabhu's devotees and Nityananda Prabhu's holy abode. You come only once a year for the festival, dance and chant together with thousands of devotees, 'Nitai Gaura Haribol! Nitai Gaura Haribol!' and then go back to your home, and during the year you never even once think about Nitai's holy abode. This is not good; it is not a good sign. You must always – always! – call out to Nityananda Prabhu, always think about Nityananda Prabhu, always serve Nityananda Prabhu. This is what we must always remember. I am praying to you with folded palms, I am clasping your hands, I am clasping your feet – you are going back to your houses, but please, please do not become entangled in your material bondage – never forget Nitai! Promise me this. Will you forget Nitai? Tell me. [Devotees: No.] Always remember Nitai. Say with me, 'Nitai Gaura Haribol! Nitai Gaura Haribol! Nitai Gaura Haribol!!' Always live thinking about all this.
