Golden Time for Golden Purpose

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Srila Gurudev's Vyasa Puja Adhivas, Nrisingha Palli
13 December 2019, part 1

We have arrived here by a great fortune. We are now in Grumdwip, kirtanyakha-dham (the holy abode of kirtan). There are nine kinds of devotion residing on the nine islands of Nabadwip, and the place where we are now is an abode of kirtan. This is a place where kirtan must be practised. You know what the nine kinds of devotion are: sravanam, kirtanam, smaranam, archanam, vandanam, dasyam, sakhyam, atma-nivedanam, pada-sevanam (hearing, chanting, remembering the Lord, worshipping the Deity of the Lord, offering obeisance, rendering service as a servitor, as a friend, self-submission, serving the Lord's lotus feet). Kirtan (chanting the Holy Name of the Lord, chanting the glories of the Lord) is one of these nine kinds of devotion. This place here is kirtanyakha-dham. Our old temple in Koladwip is in the abode of pada-sevanam. We are present here in the abode of kirtan...

Our Gurupadpadma, Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj, also stayed in Nabadwip—this is where he came to his Guru, this is where he took shelter. Many of you have seen him, but the biggest question is how many of you have got a relationship with him? There can be no abhidheya (understanding of the means to attain the goal) without sambandha (relationship); without abhidheya you cannot understand what prayojana is (cannot understand what is the goal). You do not establish or develop relationship with the Guru just by taking the mantra from the Guru. Thousands and thousands of people took initiation from Gurudev; yet who of them remember him eternally, at every moment? You must remember Gurudev all the time—when you are eating, when you are sleeping or lying down, when you are sitting. You must remember Gurudev, you must keep Gurudev's words in your heart at every moment, then you can understand everything.

I always tell to everyone in this world: how much you are struggling your whole life, from birth to death! All for what? For some money, food, and clothes? How much you are all struggling for the sake of your own interest. You wake up and work the whole day just to feed your stomach two times a day, to sleep comfortably, and to dress well, thinking, "What will neighbours say?", "I want to eat well," "I want to do this," "I want to do that." From early morning until evening you keep on working and struggling the whole day for these things. Do you ever think what will happen when you 'close your eyes'? The day you close your eyes, you will have to leave everything behind. Everything you have worked for so hard—you have made a big house, you have made a garden, everything—will be left behind. However, what will become of your soul after death? Does anyone think about getting liberation, getting to the Lord?

I know you have taken initiation from Gurudev, I know you are serving Gurudev eternally (strictly every day without fail), you are worshipping the Lord eternally, you are chanting the kirtans eternally, but how much of your golden time can you give to the Lord? Are you using your golden time to serve the Lord or to do something for your own self? If you can give golden time to the golden purpose, then you will get a genuine result. If you cannot, then...

Matchless Mercy, Matchless Misfortune
'Can you see anybody as kind as Nityananda Prabhu, as kind as Gurudev? If you hear Nityananda Prabhu's glorification, tears will come automatically, stone will be melted, but our heart is so hard, nothing happens, nothing changes in us.'

Ei-bara karuna kara
'If one offends the Lord, the Lord's Name delivers him, but if one offends you, one has no salvation.'

You must remove that rust, then Krishna can attract us. That is why we need some good association.
