His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Preaching programme, morning
Translated into English from Bengali
18 February 2020, part 1

You will not find this kind of Hari-katha anywhere. Only associates of the Lord, who are sent by Him, can distribute such discourses in this world. You can neither distribute Krishna-katha nor serve devotees without becoming first a devotee.

You did a parikrama early in the morning, chanted some kirtan, but do you understand the meaning of what you did? Not everyone has the fortune to hear pure Hari-katha, but you are fortunate, that is why you have got this opportunity today. If you keep listening to Hari-katha, then one day you will feel enthusiasm to serve the Lord, and you will get a chance to chant the glories of the Lord and the Holy Name of the Lord.

You have got this opportunity to hear and chant the glories of the Lord today, but actually you have had it for a long time now—you have been also coming for the parikramas, you have been taking prasad, but where is the result of doing all this? Where is the result of all that chanting and listening? Only one–two devotees from here have been chanting the Holy Name, and now, perhaps, seven–eight of you have got an opportunity to engage in genuine daily service.

Dal, rice, vegetables are the food of this body, but the food of the soul is listening to Hari-kirtan and Hari-katha. But do you listen to it attentively? You come for the parikrama once a year, you chant and dance, but every year, we go to Vrindavan and Purushottam Ksetra also...

Actually, it is necessary for every newcomer to join Sri Nabadwip Dham parikrama. Take a holiday for four days—take a holiday from Maya, and getting this respite from material bondage, come to do the parikrama of Sri Nabadwip Dham for four days.

Spending much money, Sripad *** Prabhu has brought you all here so that you can chant some kirtan and do parikrama. He has arranged prasadam for you all; he has arranged microphones and this pandal. He has spent a lot of money, and actually this is his deposit in the bank. But where do you keep your deposits? You keep your deposits in the toilet chamber (paykhana chamber, পায়খানা চেম্বার)! Is that so or not, tell me? You eat something today, and tomorrow you will wake up, go to the toilet, and everything will come out. You keep all your deposits there. You deposit only stool, but to cross the river, you need to have money to pay—you need to have a deposit. This deposit is not money—you only need your mind, heart and soul. You can even serve the Lord with only Tulasi leaves and Ganges water. The Lord says, "When a devotee serves Me with Tulasi leaves and Ganges water, I can never repay My debt to them. The only way for Me to repay them is to give Myself to them." So, *** Prabhu is making his deposit. He had some money and land, and he has deposited them in the bank (used them for service). Each of you must make your deposits, too.

If you want, you can do it. Those who have not taken initiation can keep aside one rupee a day—at the end of the month, you will have thirty rupees. Spend it on the service to the Lord, and that will be your deposit. But those who have become Vaishnavs (devotees) serve every day—they give fruit to the Lord every day, they cook for the Lord every day and so on. They serve Govinda and Gopal with their mind, heart and soul.

Sanatan-siksa: Surrender in Good Association
'Giving up all bad association, giving up adherence to social rules of varnas and asrams, thus ridding yourself of all material possessions (attachment), take exclusive shelter at the lotus feet of Krishna.'

We are all suffering, but we can get relief through service to the Lord,
through full surrender to Him—this is the only way to get relief.
