(5/8) Full-Hearted Appeal His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
[Clamour] Please keep quiet for one hour. You speak all day long!
দিনের মধ্যে আবল-তাবল
dinera madhye abala-tabala "How much nonsense you can talk every day! How many idle talks you have! Can you not say the Name of Govinda even once?" You talk to much! You are so busy with money, food and your stomach. You eat four times a day, which is up to two hours a day, but when you sit to chant the Holy Name for ten minutes, your mouth starts paining. Then, you come to a place where the Holy Name is chanted, and you move your tongues to do the ulu-dhvani, but what is the use of doing it? Do you call your children by ulu-dhvani? I ask you for a glass of water, but you do ulu-dhvani. Does it say anywhere in the scriptures that you must do this? Where? The scriptures say, "Chant the Holy Name! Give jay!" but you do ulu-dhvani in reply. If I call Gurudev, "O Gurudev," then Gurudev will turn his head, and if I call your son, "Hey Gopal!", "Hey Madhav!", "Hey Yadav!" then Gopal (Madhav or Yadav) will turn his head, but if I do ulu-dhvani, will he come? If I do ulu-dhvani instead of calling my father or mother, will they come? It is the same here—you must call the Lord by His Name: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. This the Lord's Name. If you call Him loudly and with strength, forcefully, it is even better. If you call out loudly, everyone will hear it. Do not be shy. Those who are shy chant silently. Even when you go to pass stool, chant loudly, "Hare Krishna!" People will think you have gone mad—so what? "Yes, this is right. I have become mad for the Lord." "When will the Lord give His darshan to me? When will I serve the Lord?"—we must feel this kind of pull. When a husband goes to work, his wife stays at home and waits, "When will my husband come back?" Then, when the time comes, his plane lands, but he has not come out yet. His wife will be anxious, "When will he come out? When will he come out?" This kind of anxious eagerness must be there for the Lord, "When will my Lord come? When will my Lord come?" If you do not have this kind of eagerness, you will not get anything. This is how you must practise Krishna consciousness.
