mukam karoti vachalam pangum langhayate girim "The dumb can speak, the lame can climb a hill—all it takes is mercy from Gurudev." (Bhavartha Dipika) First, I am offering my full obeisance at the lotus feet of my Divine Master Om Vishnupad Jagad-guru Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj, begging him for his causeless mercy and aspiring to serve him; after that, I am offering my full obeisance to all the assembled guru-varga, all my godbrothers, to all the listeners, to all the motherly lady devotees and all the devotees. I am offering my obeisance at your holy feet and praying for your mercy to this lowly soul. My guru-varga Srila Bhakti Kusum Ashram Maharaj, Sripad Bhakti Amrita Paramarthik Maharaj, Sripad Bhakti Bandhav Puri Maharaj, Sripad Bhakti Nandan Sadhu Maharaj, Sripad Bhakti Ujjval Sajjan Maharaj, are present today. I am offering my full obeisances at their holy feet and pray for their mercy to this lowly soul. [Clamour] Do not speak! Please listen quietly. Can you not wait for two minutes? You are taking your bags and running away – please wait! Hold on! Please stay. I am going to give you all prasad, that is why I am not letting you leave yet. You have come with your return ticket, but even Sri Jagannath Misra and Sachi Mata said it, and Gaura Hari also thought, 'I have created this Maya to keep souls away, and you are all going to her prison-house. But before you leave, please take some prasad so that no inauspiciousness befalls us, the householders.' Jagannath Misra and Sachi Mata are arranging everything. Everybody is going back to the jail of Maya, but Jagannath Misra is thinking, 'Inauspiciousness will come to my house and my son, so please do not leave without taking prasad.' I heard also that they announced in the microphone, 'Nobody is to leave without taking prasad.' Guru Maharaj often said that foreign devotees have one advantage: they do not have so much attachment to their family, but Bengali devotees are very attached to their families. So, when Bengali devotees come for a few days, they think, 'Everything must be destroyed at home! My land must be destroyed', 'My business must have suffered', 'I must have lost my job!' 'My potato is lost!', 'My pumpkin is lost!', 'Is anybody looking after my cow?' They think about all these things. They do not think that all these things are the property of the Lord. Those who are staying in the house try to protect everything and look after everything themselves because they are overcome by ego. They think, 'I take care of everything. I look after everything. If I am not there, something will happen.' They never think, 'All this property belongs to the Lord, and even if I am not there, I am coming to serve the Lord and to listen about the Lord, so the Lord will protect everything.' They do not have faith in the Lord's promise (the Lord says, 'I protect you, I take care of you'). Even in Srimad Bhagavatam and Srimad Bhagavad-gita it is said that 'If a devotee worships Me and serves Me, I will look after everything for them.' But people do not have faith in this – they only casually read Gita... People do not have faith that the Lord will protect everything. If I fall at the Lord's feet and think about the Lord, the Lord will take care of my wife, son, daughter, property and anything else that I leave behind at home; these are all the Lord's things, so He will take care of them. But those who think that these things are their own property, who think that they enjoy with everything themselves are very attached to these things and they will have to keep coming to this material world, to the bondage of illusory environment – they will keep rotating in the wheel according to their karma and keep coming to the material family life of Maya. You are running one household, but I have more than 140 centres all over the world, but the Lord is protecting everything. Many devotees have also come from those centres. For example, Srila Ashram Maharaj is running nine centres in Mexico. Sripad Bhakti Bandhav Puri Maharaj, our new sannyasi, is also taking care of the Ecuador centre. There are devotees from Colombia, Africa, Mautitius and other countries, and there are centres in each of these countries. Each centre has ten–twenty devotees staying there like in a family house. Who will take care of their property when they are not there? The Lord looks after everything. So, if you are attracted to the Lord, then keep faith in the Lord and the Lord will take care of all your things. But if you think, 'If I do not go back, there will be problems' – you rush back home to water your land or collect your potato – then the Lord will not make a good arrangement for you.
