(8/9) Flow of Nityananda Prabhu's Mercy

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Sri Ekachakra Dham, morning class before parikrama
17 February 2019, part 8
Translated from Bengali

There was one more person who received Sriman Nityananda Prabhu's mercy in a very wonderful way. That person is Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami. Although he had never personally met Sriman Nityananda Prabhu, he received Nityananda Prabhu's mercy. How? I told you before that it is necessary to first serve devotees – if you serve Vaishnavs, then you can become a Vaishnav yourself.

Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami's younger brother (his name is not mentioned anywhere) arranged a twenty-four-hour kirtan at their house in Jhamatpur and called an outside brahman (a priest) called Gunarnava Misra to perform the Deity worship. They kept only an image, or some Deity, of Mahaprabhu but not Nityananda Prabhu's on the altar. At that time, there came one great Vaishnav and a servitor of Nityananda Prabhu. His name was Minaketan Ramdas. When he came to the house, he saw that they were worshipping only Gauranga (because the priest hired by Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami's brother did not accept Nityananda Prabhu; he was an offender).

Since Ramdas Minaketan was Nityananda Prabhu's disciple, he was not given any greeting, respect or even a place to sit. Feeling very unhappy, he went to Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami and said, 'Krishna Das, what is your brother doing? Seeing it, I feel so unhappy that it makes the hair on my body stand on end. What kind of offence he is committing! He is accepting One and is not accepting the Other. This is half-hen logic!'

Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami then did much service to Ramdas Minaketan – he gave him a place to stay, fed him prasad and did everything to please him. Later, Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami had a fight with his brother: 'What are you doing?! You have spent money on this asta-prahar kirtan, bringing this party, but while doing this, you are making a great offence! You do not accept Nityananda Prabhu! You do not give any respect to His servitor!' Nityananda Prabhu was very happy with Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami.

That night, when Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami went to bed, Nityananda Prabhu appeared before him and said, 'O Krishna Das! Do not stay in Jhamatpur! Come quickly to Vrindavan!' Leaving everything, giving up everything, Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami went to Vrindavan. When he came to Vrindavan, although he was very old at that time and his hands were shaky, he composed Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita...

Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur also composed Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata, but everyone told him, 'You composed Chaitanya-bhagavata, but there is so much glorification of Nityananda Prabhu in it. You should have named the book Nityananda-bhagavata!' He composed that scripture so beautifully. And Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami composed Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita...

In this way, Srila Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami received Nityananda Prabhu's mercy by satisfying His servitor, Ramdas Minaketan.

Eternal Values
'How many days will you be alive in this world? Even if you are alive for thirty more years, then you will sleep for fifteen years, and the other fifteen you have other things to do, and the time is gone. How many days do we have to do Hari-bhajan? You must count it.'

Try to do what Gurudev wanted us to do—serve the mission, the devotees,
and the Deities—always try and try, and you will be successful.
