(11/15) Do Not Lose Focus

You must serve Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai. Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu and Sri Nityananda Prabhu mercifully come in this Kali-yuga, and if we get Nityananda Prabhu's mercy, we can come to Sri Sri Radha-Krishna in Vrindavan (Nitaiyera karuna habe Vraje Radha-Krsna pabe, dhara Nitaiyera charana duhkhani (নিতাইয়ের করুণা হবে ব্রজে রাধাকৃষ্ণ পাবে) ধর নিতাইয়ের চরণ দুঃখানি). We must hold firm onto His feet. If we pray to Nityananda Prabhu's holy feet, we can come to the Lord. However, if we do not understand anything in our lives, if we do not even try to understand anything, if we do not care to know anything, we will not get anything like this. It is necessary to try to understand things – we must give our minds and hearts to come to the understanding that we must serve the Lord. But what are we doing instead?

Yesterday I was going down the street and saw so many things... What this world has come to! We had to drive very carefully because there were drunk people staggering down the road. Another man was drunk and was riding a bicycle, falling off it. People gamble, drink, take drugs, smoke. They study at big colleges and universities and take to heroin... This is what this world has come to.

In this Age of Kali, the son of the King of Vraja (Krishna) became the son of Sachi Devi (Gaura), and Balaram became Nitai. We must worship Them. We must serve the Lord's Name, the Lord's Deity and the Lord's devotees. If we can serve Vaishnavs, it will bring us the greatest benefit. Service to the Lord gives happiness and peace. You should be smart. The Lord comes as gurudev and mingles with the people of this world to give people an opportunity to associate with the Lord and serve the Lord.

To whatever extent you can, you must serve the Lord in this life, otherwise your lives will be simply wasted. This is the stern truth. It is the truth, and we must accept it. Always live remembering this.

A symptom of devotion is a constant search for a way to please Krishna, to make Him happy. 'What can I do to make Lord Krishna happy?', 'What can I do to make my gurudev happy?' If your guru is happy, it means that Krishna becomes happy, too. In Srimad Bhagavatam, the Lord says, 'My Name is greater than Me, and My devotee is greater than even My Name. So, if you can serve My devotee, you will be benefitted.' That is why we are always giving emphasis to vaishnav-seva – our attention is always directed at 'How can I serve Vaishnavs?' Remember this.
