Rupa
Sanatan: First Encounter
"Rupa and Sanatan stayed in Ramkeli-gram in Malda district, Gauda Mandal and
worked for the emperor Hussein Shah. They heard that somebody tried to
start kirtan, and, understanding that it had to be Mahaprabhu, they went to
meet with Him."

Rupa Sanatan:
Running Away
"Rupa Goswami left his job tactfully—he made some mistakes in the accounts
and the king told him it was not necessary for him to do the job any more.
Shortly after that, all of a sudden Sanatan Goswami left the job without
giving any notice to the king."

renunciation. He was a chief minister, but now he suddenly wears old poor
clothes and goes begging house to house. Sanatan is not shy, not
ashamed—he has no ego.'"

A Rainy Morning at Sri
Nabadwip Dham
"Just as in the rainy season the water-bearing clouds wander about the earth
pouring torrents of rain and creating a deep-sounding drumming all around,
you too wander about this earth with your associates, marching and
proclaiming the glories of Gaura. O my lord! Indeed, you always pour the
divine nectar of your mercy without any reservation."

the devotees had to run to follow Him."

Sri Gadadhar Pandit's
Life in Puri
A special discourse given by His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda
Dev-Goswami Maharaj for Sri Gaudiya Darshan, 1995, dwelling on "Puri
Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math" and "Jagannathdev and His Dham." Later, this
article was included in the compilation of lectures Affectionate
Guidance (Chapter 23).
On the Way to Sri Puri Dham
(Divine
Guidance, chapter 2):
"We are not going sightseeing but we are going to a place of pilgrimage, a
holy place. Going there will purify us—body, mind, and soul."
From Sri Nabadwip Dham: Today the devotees are starting Sri Puri Dham pilgrimage. Taking the
blessings of His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj on their
heads, the devotees are starting from Nabadwip to Kolkata, Howrah station, by
a morning train and a car. Throughout the afternoon the devotees will flock
from all over India and join the party there at the station. At about 7 p.m.
everybody is taking a night train from Howrah to Puri.
Tue, 14 July 2015: (Pilgrimage to Sri Puri Dham)
Regulated Life
"We are blinded by the illusory dust. How will we then see the transcendental
abode? Those who eat regularly, who work regularly, who sleep regularly, can
practise properly. Regular sleeping, regular prasadam is also part of
service. If you cannot do it, you will not be able to practise."

From Sri Puri Dham: In the wee hours of the morning, the devotees finally reach Sri Puri Dham
station and with kirtan and joy head towards the temple to take the shelter
of Sri Sri Nitai Chaitanya. At 4 p.m. the devotees made a short parikrama to
the shore of the ocean: taking the holy water of maha-tirtha on their heads
and remembering the Pastimes of Mahaprabhu and Srila Haridas Thakur. Then the
parikrama party proceeded to the samadhi mandir of Srila Haridas Thakur that
was made by Mahaprabhu Himself, and then on to chatak parvat, that is
considered nondifferent from Govardhan in Sri Puri Dham (where there is also
Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur's bhajan kutir). The last stop for
the day was Tota-Gopinath, the temple, the Deity and the bhajan kutir of
Srila Gadadhar Pandit—the place where Lord Gopinath mercifully knelt so
that Sri Gagadhar Pandit, in his old age, could garland Him.

Lord
Jagannath: Discovery
"The Lord did not give any direction, so King Indradyumna had to find out
himself where the Lord was. All he knew was that the Lord was there and was
waiting for him."

From Sri Puri Dham: Shortly after the mangal arati, the devotees set out on a day-long
parikrama to several holy places near Puri. With the excited chants of
"Jay Sachinandan! Gaura Hari! Nitai Gauranga!" the devotees walk down the
seaside to the bus station. Eight buses packed full take everyone first to
Alwarnath. When Mahaprabhu was not able to see Lord Jagannath (during the
Lord's "sickness" Pastime) Mahaprabhu ran to Alwarnath to have the darshan of
the Lord there. As soon as He reached it, He fell on the ground and the stone
underneath His body melted. The imprints of the Lord's body are still kept at
the temple. The second stop is at the temple of Saksi Gopal ("Gopal the
Witness"). Western devotees are not allowed to enter, but can give obeisance
from outside and receive prasadam of the Lord. Then was the temple of Ananta
Vasudev (Lord Siva) opposite Bindu Sarovar where the devotees honoured
prasadam that is nondifferent from Jagannath prasadam and has a very peculiar
sweet taste. The last place visited is the temple of Lord Siva near Ananta
Vasudev's temple, where the devotees were instructed: "Go inside, pay
obeisance to Lord Siva, ask for Krishna-bhakti, and come out."
(Unfortunately, the Western devotees are not allowed there too.) Somewhat
tired but so very happy the devotees return to the shelter of Sri Sri Nitai
Chaitanya after 6 p.m.
From Sri Puri Dham: At 4 p.m. everybody gathers in Sevak Bhavan to start the parikrama, but it
starts to rain heavily and the devotees run to the nat mandir with kirtan and
waited for the rain to stop. In about an hour, the rain subsided and the
devotees walk, through drizzle and ankle-deep torrents of rain streaming down
the streets, to Sri Siddha Bakul where Srila Haridas Thakur resided and
famously chanted the Holy Name. The next stop is Kashi Mishra's house and
Gambhira, where Mahaprabhu resided last years of His manifest Pastimes.
Fri, 17 July 2015: (Pilgrimage to Sri Puri Dham; Sri
Gundicha Marjan)
Gundicha
Marjan: "Let Jagannath Come to My House"
"Another meaning of Gundicha marjan is cleaning the heart, and Mahaprabhu
Himself was showing how to do it. At first He swept, then poured water and
then with His own cloth, uttariya, He washed the temple. He was showing how
thoroughly you must clean your heart..."

From Sri Puri Dham: At 7 a.m. devotees start out for the last day of parikrama in Sri
Jagannath Puri before Sri Ratha Yatra festival and visit Srila Jagadananda
Pandit's house, Sri Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya's house, birthplace of Srila
Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur, Sri Ramananda Ray's house and garden, and

From Sri Puri Dham (Sri Ratha Yatra day): Having bowed down to Sri Sri Nitai Chaitanya and taking Their blessings on
their heads, the devotees start sankirtan at about 12 p.m. and walk to the
main road of Sri Jagannath Puri excited to finally present themselves to
Their Lordships Sri Jagannath, Sri Baladev and Sri Subhadra. At the time the
party arrives at the road, the king of Odisha is inaugurating the festival
and in a while the chariots start to move forth from Sri Jagannath temple to
Sri Gundicha. First, Baladev, then Subhadra, and finally Jagannath. By 7-8
p.m. it gets completely dark and devotees chant Sri Gaura Arati, sing
bhajans, honour Sri Jagannath prasad, and return back to the temple.
