SRI GAUDIYA GITANJALI : SARANAGATI GITI
hari hari! bada sela marame rahila
paiya durlabha tanu, sri-krsna bhajana binu,
janma mora viphala haila [1]
O Lord! My heart is pierced with a thick arrow. I have got a very rare body,
but because I have not worshipped Lord Sri Krishna, my life has simply passed
in vain.
vrajendra-nandana hari, navadvipe avatari’,
jagat bhariya prema dila
muni se pamara-mati, visese kathina ati,
te̐ i more karuna nahila [2]
The Supreme Lord Vrajendra-nandan appeared in Nabadwip and filled the entire
world with divine love, but I am so wretched and unruly that I have not got
His mercy.
svarupa sanatana rupa, raghunatha bhatta-yuga,
tahate na haila mora mati
divya-chintamani dhama, vrndavana hena sthana,
sei dhame na kainu vasati [3]
I do not have any attraction or devotion to Svarup, Sanatan, Rupa, Raghunath,
Gopal Bhatta, Raghunath Bhatta. Vrindavan is such a holy place – it is a
transcendental abode of wish-fulfilling gems – but I did not live there.
visesa visaye mati, nahila vaisnave rati,
nirantara kheda uthe mane
narottama-dasa kahe, jivara uchita nahe,
sri-guru-vaisnava-seva bine [4]
Riveted by this material world, I have no attachment to Vaishnavs. So, now I
am suffering from constant pangs of remorse. Narottam Das says, ‘There is no
point in living without service to Sri Guru and Vaishnavs.’
