SRI GAUDIYA GITANJALI : SRI ARATI GITI
Sri Gaura Arati
jaya jaya gorachander aratika sobha
jahnavi tata-vane jaga-mana lobha [1]
Glory to the beautiful arati of Gorachand that takes place in a grove
on the bank of the Ganges, and that the whole world longs to behold!
daksine nitaichanda bame gadadhara
nikate advaita srinivasa chhatra-dhara [2]
On His right is Nitaichand, and on His left is Gadadhar; next to Him are
Advaita and Srivas, holding an umbrella.
basiyachhe gorachanda ratna-simhasane
arati karena brahma adi deva-gane [3]
Gorachand is seated on a jewelled throne, and many gods, including Lord
Brahma, are offering worship to Him.
narahari adi kari chamara dhulaya
sanjaya, mukunda, vasu-ghosa adi gaya [4]
Narahari and others are fanning Him with yak-tail whisks. Sanjay, Mukunda,
Vasu Ghos and others are singing.
sankha baje ghanta baje baje karatala
madhura mrdanga baje parama rasala [5]
Somebody is blowing a conch, somebody is ringing a bell, somebody is playing
the karatals, and somebody is sweetly playing the mridangas,
creating an extremely sweet atmosphere.
bahu koti chandra jini vadana ujjvala
gala-dese vana-mala kare jhalamala [6]
The radiance of the Lord’s face defeats that of millions of moons. And there
is a garland of forest flowers sparkling on His neck.
siva, suka, narada preme gada-gada
bhakativinoda dekhe gorara sampada [7]
Siva, Suka and Narad begin to stammer, engulfed in the ecstasy of divine
love. Thus Bhaktivinod sees Gora’s excellence and glory.
