Sri Sri Gaura-Gadadhara Yugala Astakam

ksitau luthad gaura-kalevarabhyam
sada maha-prema-vilasakabhyam
samudra-tire nata-nagarabhyam
namo ’stu me gaura-gadadharabhyam [1]

Their golden bodies roll on the ground, always revelling in great ecstatic love for the Lord; They are two chief dancers on the shore of the ocean – I am offering obeisances to Sri Gaura-Gadadhar.

haha kva radheti muhuh sthitabhyam
sri-radhika-krsna-vapurdharabhyam
ananda-lila-rasa-ranjitabhyam
namo ’stu me gaura-gadadharabhyam [2]

In the mood of Radharani, They lament incessantly, ‘Where is My Lord?’; the two of Them are as beautiful as Sri Sri Radha-Krishna Themselves; They both relish the nectar of ecstatic pastimes – I am offering obeisances to Gaura-Gadadhar.

advaita-chinta-hara-sambhavabhyam
mano-bhavananda-mano-harabhyam
achintya-lila-paripuritabhyam
namo ’stu me gaura-gadadharabhyam [3]

They negate all thoughts about the non-dual Absolute; They steal everyone’s minds, filling them with joy; They perform many miraculous pastimes – I am offering obeisances to Sri Gaura-Gadadhar.

jivaika-nistara-dhrta-vratabhyam
sri-krsna-namna jana-tarakabhyam
hare hare krsna mukhambujabhyam
namo ’stu me gaura-gadadharabhyam [4]

Having made a firm promise to rescue all souls, They deliver everyone through the Holy Name of Lord Krishna; Their holy mouths always chant, ‘Hare! Hare Krishna!’ – I am offering obeisances to Sri Gaura-Gadadhar.

asesa-duhkha-maya-bhesajabhyam
kirita-keyura-vibhusitabhyam
graiveya-mala-mani-ranjitabhyam
namo ’stu me gaura-gadadharabhyam [5]

They are the remedy against the disease of unfathomable misery; adorned with armlets, crowns, necklaces, garlands and jewels, They have a very charming appearance – I am offering obeisances to Sri Gaura-Gadadhar.

srivatsa-romavali-ranjitabhyam
vaksah-sthale kaustubha-bhusitabhyam
trailokya-sammohana-sundarabhyam
namo ’stu me gaura-gadadharabhyam [6]

They look charming adorned with srivatsa marks, beautiful hair and kaustubha jewels on Their chests; Their beauty captivates all three worlds – I am offering obeisances to Sri Gaura-Gadadhar.

sphurachchalat-kanchana-kundalabhyam
sadastabhavaih parisobhitabhyam
svedasru-kampadi-vibhusitabhyam
namo ’stu me gaura-gadadharabhyam [7]

With golden earrings swaying to and fro, Their beauty is enhanced by constant eight-fold ecstatic symptoms adorning Them with perspiration, tears, trembling and other divine symptoms – I am offering obeisances to Sri Gaura-Gadadhar.

srimachchhivananda-manorathabhyam
sada sukhananda-rasa-sphurabhyam
madiya-sarvasva-padambujabhyam
namo ’stu me gaura-gadadharabhyam [8]

They are objects of Sri Sivananda’s heartfelt aspiration; They always manifest the nectar of happiness and joy; and Their holy lotus feet are my all-in-all – I am offering obeisances to Sri Gaura-Gadadhar.

pathanti ye gaura-gadadharastakam
padyam labhante vraja-yugma-padam
advaita-putrena mayoktam etan
namnachyutananda-janena dhimata [9]

Those who recite and study this poem ‘Sri Gaura-Gadadhar Astakam’ will come to the Divine Couple in Vraja. O learned soul! So say I, Achyutananda, the son of Advaita Prabhu.
